I live in GA and bought my first black truck so I was looking for deionization systems. Everything is the CR system, Simple Chuck, DI Rinse Pro, or Griot's. Cheapest is Griot's at $300 and the others are over $400.

I came across a motor home forum with several threads about a DIY system for under $100. Nothing but rave reviews on the DIY version. Short version is a canister from a whole house filter system and resin from aquarium supply houses.

I can't vouch for it as I just ordered the parts last night. There is a parts listing on the first post, but read the thread all the way through. They change the housing to one Dupont makes with a built in bypass valve.

There are several other threads on that forum about it, but most link back to this one.

Nice.

You might also want to try the rinseless washes. I use those on my truck, especially when it's cold. I can wash my truck sitting in the garage.

I've pretty much gone to optima no rinse for the cars I keep in a garage. Fantastic stuff
