Does anyone own one? What have y'all heard/experienced?

I would only consider a 4x4 with the rear locker.

I think 1ags had one before. Supposedly great vehicles except for rear visibility

Owned one for 7 years. Just sold it last year. It is a sellers market. People love those things. Not 1 issue in 160000 miles.

Loved mine, wheeled the hell out of it too.

I had a 2014 model for about a year. I got rid of it because of a huge wobble that occurred when applying the brakes, causing the steering wheel to go crazy. I took it in several times and was told that it was just bad tires that needed to be balanced. Toyota dealer balanced them and said all was good, but it never was. It was pretty dangerous. There are plenty of incidents of this on FJ forums. Maybe mine was just a lemon, I don't know. I traded it for a new Silverado and never looked back.

Had one for about 5 years and 165,000 miles. The most major repair we had was replacing the serpentine belt. Oil changes and tires. It was a good vehicle. Would buy another one if possible. Not my pick for a family car. Yes, Terrible blind spots as mentioned by another poster. The suicide doors are a pain if you are used to real doors for the rear seating.

Appreciate the responses. Right now it's between the fj Cruiser and the Tacoma. Any thoughts on the Tacoma?

Love my '07 Tacoma. Problem free and will hit 300k before the end of the year!!

My pops bought one and it was part of my fleet while he lived in China.

This one was "loaded" with TRD Off-road package, which had the 16" wheels and all terrains with all the lockers.

It was an interesting vehicle and decent to drive. Visibility was terrible and fuel economy was the same as An F150. Rear seat access was hard but once you got in it, it was ok.

I think the old man has 38k miles on it. Recently replaced the 8 year old tires. Has original battery in it.

I have an 07 that I really like. I have a half mile commute though and that helps since it's a pretty rough ride. We took it to Rosemary Beach last year and it was an absolute bear for a 12 hour highway drive from San Antonio.

One of the worst vehicles I owned. Was bad in the snow, got stuck off-road on job sites, bad visibility, bad mileage, no power. And it spent more time in the shop for warranty work. Maybe I had a bad one, I got rid of it after 10 months and replaced it with a JKU.

It does have a lot of blind spots but if you put those mini round mirrors on the side Mirrors and I never really had to turn my head that much anymore to change lanes.

The backseat is fine if you are avg sized adults or kids that can get in and out on their own but it is pain with kids in car seats or similar.

These things go for quite a bit of money. Just for reference carmax offered me $8000 for a 2007 with 169000 miles. 2 wheel drive.

What warranty work needed to be done?

Had a 2015 Tacoma that I drove for about 40k miles and loved. Only reason I traded it in was for the more family friendly tundra back seat.

I like how he just keeps his foot to the floor even when losing control

Helping a neighbor out with a 2007 FJ with about 140K on it.

Manual transmission with the full time 4WD.

Noise from front end that starts at about 45mph and increases with speed. Medium pitch noise described as wind noise like the inside of a airplane in flight.

Any thoughts or recommendations on diagnosing this issue?

Normal or a bearing going out.

I have an 18 4runner that hums at ~45 mph. I replaced a wheel bearing thinking that was all it could be. No change.

I had an older 4r with same size wheels/tires. Before I sold it, I took the wheels off old and put on new to eliminate that variable. No hum. Michelin LTX tires. Just makes it hum.

Also had a 2002 Tacoma that sounded like it was reentering the atmosphere from orbit over 50 or so, so it might just be normal.

Went few miles in it yesterday and didn't hear anything.

There are new Michelin LTXs on it so that may well be it.
