They recently opened a Speedway gas station in Texas City. The gas is cheap right now. Is it good quality gas, or is it cheap crap? Speedway is owned by Marathon, so there are a bunch of Speedway stations up north, but this is the first one I have seen. Maybe someone on here has spent some time up there and is familiar with them.

Don't all stations use random brands of gas? I've been filling up anywhere for 20 years and never had a problem.

Its mostly outsrouced to just a handful of suppliers. the exception is for branded premium/additive grades (e.g. Chevron Techron etc...)

All gasoline is meets the same specifications in a general region.

Only difference would be whether or not it is spiked with detergent additives (Techron) or not.

All Chevron gas stations that advertise Techron have gasoline spiked with that additive.

The Kroger down the street MAY or may not, just depends who they bought from.

It's not a huge deal, just buy the cheapest gas and use some seafoam or Techron concentrate on occasion. You probably don't need to even do that but it wouldn't hurt.

Walton is right. The actual gasoline could be manufactured by anyone and will meet whatever standards exist for the area. The additives are what make it "branded", ie Exxon, Shell, Chevron, whatever. And yes, the additives do make a difference, or can. Most name brand gas is also Top Tier: https://www.toptiergas.com/

Speedway doesn't appear to be on the Top Tier list. I'd skip it, personally, although it probably isn't going to hurt anything with in a single tank.

Been using Speedway for a while up here north of Tejas. No issues, and I like getting a free coke every now and then with their loyalty card/app.
