My wife's 4Runner has a check engine light for a small leak in the evap system. I've been meaning to fix it, but I have to drop the gas tank. Can I still get it inspected in bexar county?

Can you disconnect the battery and see if it turns off? My CEL was on for the same thing and it randomly turned off and I went straight to the inspection place in Comal county. It turned back on a few days later but I was in the clear.

Bexar is not an emissions test county. You should be good to go. Safety inspection only.

That's what I thought. I'll clear the code through OBDII anyway, just in case.

I've been sent packing because I cleared the codes and they hadn't read l reset before I went to get tested.

They dont even check in Bexar county, which is puzzling since its something like double Travis county population. Probably why they bailed on HQ2 bids, dont want to rock the boat.

Well, Bexar is populated by minority democrats, not enviro hippy/yuppy democrats like Austin. The people here don't care if their beaters can't pass smog.

They check that stuff if you try to get inspected at a place that inspects for an emissions county. If you haven't driven far enough since the last reset, they won't pass it. If you're in a safety only county, no problem.

CEL still hasn't come back on. Got it inspected last week with no problems.
