I'm not a fan of the GMs because of limited third row leg room and rear cargo space. I would look at the Sequoia also.
I went with the Sequoia over the Expedition, mostly because I got a good deal on a 2016. The base level Sequoia (SR5) tends to be cheaper than a similar Expedition.
Expeditions are more common, and easier to find what you're looking for.
I think the Sequoia looks better: a little more curvy and less boxy.
Expedition offers an EL version (think Suburban vs. Tahoe), while the Sequoia is a little bigger than the standard Expy and a good bit smaller than the EL.
Engines on both accelerate nicely. The Ford gets better mileage with the Ecoboost, but the Sequoia might be more reliable being naturally aspirated (fewer parts).
I think the seats in the Sequoia were more comfortable. And its second row has the three seats that slide, recline, and fold down independently while Expedition is 60/40. But if you want second row captains chairs you can't get it in the base level Sequoia.
If you go off pavement, both have 4wd, and both have a center differential for 4wd on road in slippery conditions. Sequoia has better ground clearance. Expedition has a locking rear option. Sequoia has an electronic braking system to control slip.
