If you need parts, might try Brent Mullins. He's in CS

And check out his museum too:

What kind of axles & size brake drums do you have front & rear? I may be able to help you with part numbers for local procurement.

Prepping for paint. Hope to prime tomorrow...

I saw this 1948 Willys at a car show in Jefferson over the weekend. It's pretty sweet...

Quite a bit has been done to the Willys since my last post.

- New shocks
- Replaced flywheel
- Replaced clutch
- spark plugs

Removed engine and cleaned it up and painted it...

Next up is to sand down the body, apply bondo to the many holes, and paint the entire thing OD green. Then get tail lights.

I'm finding replacement parts here, its a great source... https://www.kaiserwillys.com/
I would consider contacting the guys at the Museum of the American GI in B/CS and get info on adding period US ARMY markings. If you know your grandfathers WW2 outfit they can probably get you the details for his old unit.

Thank you for the input. Actually my grandfather was in the Navy (Pacific) during WW2 and he got this Jeep soon after I believe from a coworker at Texas Eastman (where he worked after the war. I'm thinking for coordinating his birthday into the lettering on the side somehow.

My birthday was Friday and I got lots of Jeep parts as gifts. I'm pretty pumped about that. The star is on the hood now.

next up...
- new glass in windshield
- tail lights
- speedometer
- temp gauge
- new mirror
- install jerry can
- get registered

Hard to believe that's the same Jeep as the one on the 1st page.

If you have not yet found "metalshaper" channel on YouTube, check him out(especially if you have several free hours). It seems he is a Willys jeep expert.

Fantastic!
Don't ever sell it!

I won't. My grandad made me promise that I'd never sell it before he gave it to me. I think I'll tell my kids the same thing.
