How long do you want to ignore this user?
My wife's 2008 EX35 has randomly shut-off twice in the past few weeks when driving slowly. Dash lights remain on but engine, power steering, etc., stop working. The car restarts normally.

Based on my previous experience with my old grand cherokee my first guess is crankshaft position censors, but I'm in no way a wrencher.

Any suggestions other than the dealership? I found Linear Automotive in Plano but would like the advice from fellow Ags.

Thanks

If you don't going a little bit of your area, give Richard @ Rowlett Service Center a call. Best shop I have used and I'm almost positive they work on any make/model.

What conditions is it shutting off in?

Coasting?

Stoplight?

Accelerating?

Any jolts or jerks or is it just fading away?

How old is the battery? Connections tight and free from corrosion? Have you verified the alternator is working properly?

Both times have been when driving less than 10 MPH. I couldn't say if i was accelerating or coasting because it was on parking lots and I could have been doing either. There is no warning, i.e., a gradual loss of functionality - it just suddenly stops.

The battery is less than 2 years old. I have not checked the connections. I don't know how to test the alternator on my own but I do not have any check engine lights.

following up on this. The dealership said it had something to do w/the programming allowing the idle to get to low. They reprogrammed the car. I've had no stalling issues since.

Recently the service engine soon light came on. Autozone scanned it and said the crankshaft position sensor. Unfortunately there are 4 of them in the car.

More electronic TB problems. The TSB usually advises cleaning the gunk off the TB, but Nissan has also changed some of the idle commands to help compensate for the deposits.

I would bet this. Have an 03 G35 coupe. Similar issues until the TB was cleaned.
