My parents are trying to figure out what to do with my brother's car (he passed 18 mos ago). It's a 2006 Acura TSX with a manual, leather and navigation and in pretty good shape at ~115K miles. Their thoughts are to try and trade it in when they replace mom's '98 Buick but I told them I doubt they'll get much for it. Any ideas about what would something like this go for in a private party sale?

Since it's a manual I'm tempted to buy it from them but hiding it from Mrs. Fife might be complicated. Maybe if they let me keep it over there in TX since they have the garage space...

Check Edmunds.com and KBR.com for trade in, private party, and dealer retail prices based on trim, condition, mileage, etc. FWIW, I just picked up a 2007 TSX automatic with Nav and 138,000 miles from my mother (she was going to trade it in when buying a Lincoln MKX). Dealer trade in per Edmunds was around $5,000 - $5,500 I believe. I wish mine was a manual...

Oh, and private party was about $7,500 on mine.

It's a good little car; Honda clutches feel a little weird to me but still fun to drive. At 8 years old I'm surprised they go for that much. It's in good condition, headlights are fogged up but nothing else really wrong except that the starter might be wearing out. Needs a decent cleaning.

Dad isn't very good at negotiating cars, if they offered $3K he'd probably say "ok." I may end up handling this one for them somehow, probably later this year.

sorry for your loss

those are awesome cars. It's a pretty ideal commuter car, imo. They should run forever and be more fun to drive than a civic or corolla

Thanks, this is the last thing that was his that's still around. Mom has been driving it but since she's pushing 70 soon and has a bad ankle or two it's not a good fit in the long term.

On the other hand we've been in the hospital since just past midnight because Mrs. Fife is having our first today. This is taking a lot longer than I thought it would, but they gave her something to get things moving along a bit.

Private sale the vehicle. If your parents are anywhere near B/CS we could help.

Good luck on baby!!!! They come at their own sweet time.
