Been browsing for a while, and started test driving a couple of weeks ago. I'm going this weekend, and will pull the trigger on something as soon as I think it's a good buy..

That brings me to my question: I was going to go with a 2013-2014 F-150 because I figured I could get a good price on one with low mileage..
Test drove a 2013 King Ranch 4x4 with 22k miles. Dealer wanted 40,500. I told him I'd give him $35,000 for it, and he laughed at me. I'm looking at New 2015 Lariats that I could get between $40k-$42k. Saw a New 2015 GMC equivalent to a Lariat at $40,500.

The King Ranch was at a Dealer, so I went to Texas Direct Auto and offered the same $35,000 for a 2014 King Ranch with 31k. He wouldn't go under $39,000. Am I out of line thinking these things are overpriced? Older model, worse gas mileage, used with 20-30k miles on them already..

It's truck month!!!!!!!!

Lol, I did the same game, new was the same price as low mileage used. Use the hookup, buy new.

Yep. I can't figure out who buys low mileage used trucks anymore. There's just not enough depreciation. But a ton of people must do it, because the prices stay up.

email him at his user name at gmail. He's in China right now, so give him a day or two to respond as it probably won't be immediately.

You can get a great deal for a used truck, at least what I'm looking for. Re-sale value on 3/4 ton & 1 ton gas trucks is crap & it's awesome!

Half-ton 4x4 used prices are high. I'm passively looking for a new-to-me Tundra, and there is no reason to even consider used based on the current market.

We seem to have this conversation monthly these days.

For about 5-6 years now, the value in used cars is non-existent. Especially in full size trucks and SUVs.

in 2011 I bought a FX2 Ecoboost ffor $32k...sticker was $41k

Put 21k miles on it. A year later took it to Carmax and they offered me $30k. Should have taken it and by waiting a few months it cost me 3k in trade value.

Glad to hear that I'm not off base. I told the last dealer that if there was a stock on used F150s I'd be as short as I could afford.

Felt like it's a buyers market with the amount of trucks out there, and these guys don't want to deal at all. Bubble has to burst eventually.

When I bought my truck 10 years ago, it was exactly the same thing.

Should I buy someone's used piece of **** for 38k bucks, or buy a brand new one exactly to my spec with 0% financing for a couple grand more. Tough choice.

It was the same for me back in '98 as well! I wanted a 1-3 year old truck, but paid same or less buying a dealer demo with 2k miles on it and it was still "new." Still have it, because I'm going to get every last nickel's worth of utility from it! :P

If prices are this high, what kind of offer (Carmax or TDA) could I expect for a 2014 F-150 2wd with 5.0 and 302a package? Has 9K miles. I live in B/CS - guess I could make the trip down 290 one weekend soon.

If we follow Japan's lead, we will have negative interest rates in a few years. The dealership will literally pay you the tine value of money to buy a truck. Grow bubble grow.
