Buddy's truck just started doing this.

The digital readout in the center is the correct speed.

Any idea why one is wrong?

It's under warranty so it should be fixed at no cost. Just curious.

Stepper motor in the gauge could be effed. Or it didn't check correctly (gauge does not know where zero is). Or software/network problem in the cluster

My 2015 5.0 did the exact same thing. Basically worked itself out it seemed though during the work trip

Proper fix is to peg it to the end for a solid minute or two and then let off the gas.

Like any good it guy will tell you "Power Cycle It". Pull the cluster fuse, wait 2min, put it back in.

A few Ford truck forum people have had good luck pulling the negative terminal with good results.

Other folks have gotten a new cluster under warranty.
