So we are getting a front end replacement due to a little incident the wife had a couple weeks ago in our truck. As part of the deal, I agreed we could get it painted to match the tan two tone on the truck.

My question for the board is should we Powdercoat it or get it lined? Any recommendations for either in the NW Houston area. TIA

I've always seen the liner fade and discolor over time with the tan color.

I'd go powder coating

Bedliner any where other than a bed is trash.

Highly recommend powder coating. Withstands rock chips and will provide a much smoother appearance than the bedliner. If your truck is white and you are matching, you have to go powder coating. Almost all white bedliners turn yellow.

I'm convinced that applies to all colors except black.

My initial though was powder coat but when i was searching for places to do it, i came saw alot of people suggesting to line it.

Any suggestions for places to powder coat in North Houston of NW Houston? I wanted the body shop to paint it and he told me he couldn't.

I am assuming this is a F250 (maybe 350) with the Arizona Beige bottom color. If this is the case, one thing to note is that there are 3 different versions of "Arizona Beige". The three different colors do have different names but most truck accessory places call it Arizona Beige. A little google searching with your year model will tell you which color you need. I only mention this because I have seen the wrong color on a truck multiple times before, looks trashy.

And my vote is for the powder coat. I like liner better, but only for black, for the same fading reasons mentioned above. Liner gives you a matte finish (which goes along with the other black things on my truck), powder coat gives you glossy look (which works better for your case).

EDIT: I looked into a Houston area powder coating a while back and came across one named "Texas Powder Coaters" or something like that. they seemed knowledgeable and fair price. However, I think they were on the SW side.

I go with paint or powdercoat. Make sure whoever is doing the work has done it before and it matched well. Powdercoating can be tough to match on the first try. A lot of truck accessory shops carry pre-painted replacement bumpers in the King Ranch tan because it's such a popular color. It may be worth trying a few instead of dealing with a paint or coating shop.

Thanks loco.

I would have done pre-painted but the body shop already ordered it as part of the insurance repair. I am just paying the difference which is like $200.

Unified Coating Industries in Cypress, ask for Justin. I used to powder coat my own parts, but I bring stuff to them now.
