Replacing tires on the 4Runner. It currently has Yokohama Geolander H/TS P255/70 R16's on it. Discount says these are discontinued and have been replaced by the more expensive H/TX. Are they full of chit?

Can they not be special ordered? I looked at the specs of the HTX tires and they sound like a hard compound.

If you can't get the H/TS, I'd get another brand of tires. Good ones in that size will be Bridgestone Alenzas, Cooper HTP, and BFG Long Trails.

I'd go with Bridgestone or Cooper before BFG.

Yeah, love mine too. Wish I could still get 'em. Not sure what I'm going to go with now...

I love my Michelin LTX M/S2. Yeah, unless you put a ton of miles on them each year, they'll suffer from dry rot before they wear out. But, they are quiet and have great traction in inclement weather. Just my $.02.

Destination LE2 is a great tire too.

Also the YK-HTX is a Discount Tire exclusive.

Looks like the Geolandar G056 is the replacement for the G051.

We have the Bridgestone Alenza H/L on the Yukon. I have been very impressed with these tires. They have 41k+ miles on the fronts that were on the vehicle when we bought it. We replaced the rears shortly thereafter so they have 35k miles. They look like they could go another 40k miles.

For $149 each and 65,000 mile warranty, I couldnt ask for more.

Put these on my Expedition last year, so far they've been great. Normally I'm a Michelin man, but the cost delta was high enough to make me try a new tire that got similarly great reviews.
