Last night I installed the new brake calipers. They came with new brackets and all necessary hardware which made install easy. The first side I took the bracket and caliper off separately so I could see how it all worked, the second side I unhooked the brake line and then removed the bracket & caliper as an assembly which sped up removal. No more dragging brakes and better stopping!


Here's how the hood looks, looking at CL I should be able to pick one up for $150 or so. I'm going to rock it as is for a while

Thread title change requested.

Oil pressure dropped again this morning, so bad oil pump, o-ring, or pickup tube.

I can't decide if I want to bring it to the dealership and hope they cover it under their warranty or just find a 5.3 to swap in. A 6.0 would be sweet, but don't want to go fullon #RACETRUCK since I know I'd then need to rebuild/swap in a different transmission.

You sure it's not the sensor? I was driving my father's old 2008 5.3 one day and the oil pressure sensor went out. The gauge dropped to zero,so I stopped and trailered it to a shop to be sure.

Sounds like you have more important things to address. But when the time comes, 2006+ hood and grille FTW.

I was leaning towards letting the warranty take care of it, but sure does sound like some ****ing hoops to jump through.

Pretty much I'll pay out of pocket, they'll determine if it's covered by warranty, and then reimburse me if so.

So there's a definite potential for me paying repair costs that could otherwise buy a replacement engine

Well in that case tear it down, bore it .30 over, forged crank, forged rods, forged 9.0:1 pistons, ported 5.3L heads, better intake manifold, blower cam, and a 76mm turbo with a lot of boost.

Hell I really could just do this all myself. Would be easy to throw a low lift cam in there while I'm at it.

I have some stock LS2 pistons and I think a cam and some other BS from HemiKiller laying around in the garage.

To heck with all that $. Swap in a junk yard 5.3, boost it and see how long it lasts. Feed it E85 and the answer is a long time.

Still think you should read the fine print of the warranty they made you buy.

Raise hell if you have to, and get them to take care of it.

You're guessing at a problem that you have no idea of the true cause of.

It's already been dropped off at the shop. It is a Zurich warranty.

Just spoke with shop, found two chunks of what looks like solder/welding slag in pan.

Shop calls Zurich and they want him to find out where the metal came from A.K.A take the motor apart.

If I give the go ahead to this and warranty fckers back out, it's entirely on me to cover all costs incurred from this little endeavor.

This sh*t is not the problem, it's the lack of fcking oil pressure you fcking cvnts

Regardless of where the sh*t came from, it was inside the engine thus is a lubricated internal part which is stated to be covered

This should have gone back to the selling dealer, and you should have raised hell about this.

Even if its 'as-is" did you even drive it 300 miles before having these issues?

Selling dealer was in Orange, didn't want to bring my sh*t all the way up there. Didn't expect to need to raise hell due to the warranty.

I've put around 1k on it in the time I was driving it.
