I have a 2012 BMW X3 with about 48k miles. I didn't buy the extended warranty/service contract, so I'm about to be on my own for those expenses. Originally when I bought the car, I figured I would trade it in before it hit 50k. Now, for various reasons, I'm leaning towards keeping it.
So far, besides oil changes, I've bought new tires and had one set of brakes done. I'm going to take it to the dealership next week to see if I can get the other set of brakes done before reaching 50k.
I've had the dealership where I purchased it inquire about buying it back. I asked for a quote but haven't seen one, yet. I've seen 2013 versions of my car with similar mileage listed for about $30k.
My question is, how much can I expend to spend on routine maintenance (oil changes, brakes, and whatever else these cars typically need) once I'm paying for it all myself? I don't really want to take it to the dealership for routine service if paying out of pocket since dealerships usually charge a premium. So, I'm also looking for recommendations for a place to get that work done in/near The Woodlands. I actually really do like the vehicle, so I don't mind keeping it, assuming I can find a good service place.
