Get off your phone. Who takes pictures while tailgating someone with unsafe tires?

Better fuel economy because less rolling resistance.

Now that texags has his license plate info, I assume that he's already received a courtesy warning phone call and a pack of dildos delivered to his mother

Okay that maybe stupid, but following that close at 80mph is every bit as stupid. Unless you're reinventing physics there's no way you're stopping in time if they have to brake hard. Congrats, you just gave the other idiot a ton of money via a rear end collision lawsuit that you will be found at fault.

If someone on two donuts brakes hard, they aren't stopping very fast, and hilarity will ensue.

What I was thinking as I read Grandpa Simpson's post.

Not to mention, what if he did his own brakes?

You were the grandpa parked in the left lane slowing down traffic, weren't you?

No, not a gramps but I am the guy who got to sit in an hour of traffic because of an unecessary and completely avoidable accident...and got to pay higher all around insurance premiums for the county.

I will also go on record to say that I absolutely will jam on my brakes at random to bait a rear end collision with tailgaters...so keep that in the back of yer mind sonny. Ramble, ramble

Have a nice day

EVERY accident is avoidable. Every. Single. One.

If you're being tailgated, chances are you're driving slow in the fast lane and holding up traffic. I know you're type. You're the person in a giant truck with enough space between you and the car ahead of you to clock 1/4 mile times into a 20 mph head wind with a 2001 Prius. As far as you jamming on your brakes, continue to do it and you will be rear ended one day and I hope the possible consequence of being a dick is worth it to you. I have a 56 year old cousin that was rear ended by a drunk driver on the highway when he was 17 and has been in a wheelchair since with just a little use of his right hand.

Oh, thanks for admitting to actively looking to cause an accident and causing us all to pay "higher all around insurance premiums". And what you see is not tailgating. It's a car cutting in front of me to go around a tractor trailer only to be held up by an asshat like you parked in the left lane. At that time, we were probably doing around 60. Once he was able to get around your doppelganger, he floored it and shot off. I found it funny that he's weaving in and out of traffic on 2 do nut tires that should't be taken over 55 mph, so I snapped a pic.

Congrats on just admitting on a public forum of attempting to commit insurance fraud.

Wait, you're trying to make me into the bad guy after several of you went on a personal attack binge? That's rich...I'm glad we agree that there is no such thing as an unavoidable accident. Thank you for confirming the point of my original post.

No, I don't bait rear end collisions, but I know get rich quick lunatics exist and they share the road with us (unfortunately). I'm sorry about your friend, I hope they nailed the guy who did it.

I'm the mafacka who rides closer after you brake check me.

Flashing of the high beams means get the fook out my way. I don't care if you're going the speed limit or even over, slower traffic to the right

What if they're already going faster than traffic to the right?

...and I'm cool with flashing high beams to indicate you want to pass. I always get over for those people. I never know what their reason is, maybe they have an injured kid and they're trying to get to a hospital, don't know, don't care, but they communicated to me in a positive fashion and I'll drive cooperatively, happily.

...amazing we even need to discuss this, seems like common sense to me.

Most of the time on my morning commute I drive in the right lane going easily 5mph faster than everyone else. It's because the left two lanes are too jammed up with people who are going to stay in the left lanes no matter what and they'll be damned if they are going to get over for someone going faster than them.

So I stay my happy fast self in the right lane easily getting around the slow pokes.

East side of H-Tine this is not possible, too many 18-wheelers and people that aren't used to driving in the States yet

You are still suppose to yield to faster traffic.

Luckily it's not too bad at 6am when I'm out driving. Granted I drive 75 on the beltway and am usually going faster than 90% of traffic so the right lane works for me at that time since there's hardly anyone in it. I just have to get over for the occasional person merging on.

I just can't stand to see a car going the speed limit in the left lane with a half dozen cars piled up behind it because they refuse to get over.

I drive the beltway everyday and right before you hit 59 (heading north) the right lanes are always faster than the left lanes. I make sure to never be in the left lane because that gets backed up the worst of em all.

This.

Beltway 8 from City Center to Pearland, stay far right (go through single EZ pass at main plaza)... then nearing Sugarland when you pass Mambos, move to far left. Every. single. day. Except every other Friday.

Speaking of left lane hogs I came across this guy this morning. He's in the white car a bit ahead of me basically cruising down the beltway in the left lane when a mess of cars come up and pass him on the right then get over in front of him. By the time I caught up to him I guess he'd had enough and spazzed out trying to get over. I moved over a lane and left that guy behind.

If he'd just gotten over when he saw vehicles pulling up fast behind him he'd have been just fine.
