Son is getting ready to head back to A&M next week and took his '02 Silverado in for an inspection.
They couldn't get an emissions reading because of a blown fuse. No big deal as I have had that happen before on another vehicle. However as soon as they replaced the fuse, the new one blew also apparently as a result of a short somewhere in the system. He failed the inspection as a result.
I don't know nearly enough about electronics systems to chase down a short, but is this something difficult for a shop to do? Just wondering if the experts would advise me to take it to my local mechanic who does most of the work on my vehicles? Or should I be looking for someone who specializes in electrical issues?
One note: My son put in a new stereo and amp system around XMas time. He hasn't had any electrical issues but it does make me wonder if that might have something to do with this now existent short......
