Looking for a great car hauling trailer- recommendations and suggestions appreciated.
Will be used for - sports cars (corvette Miata Avanti) mainly so must be able to load low profile vehicles, and other classic cars (model A, Studebakers etc). Nothing very heavy.
Will be used 50% for cars not running so needs integrated winch for loading.
Easy to tie down many different chassis - preferably able to use the tie downs that go over the tires so needs tie points on floor. Maybe one with the tracks on floor? Many of the cars mentioned don't have great places to hook to for tie downs.
Have used tilting trailers, some hydraulic tilt ( have had maintenance issues with this type in past) and some that tilted manually ( just balanced and could tilt up by hand and tilted down gently as car was loaded). Not sure if tilting is best for low profile - always have to use boards to extend and make lower angle???
Like lightweight trailers - pulling with 1/2 ton truck sometimes long distance. Willing to pay for aluminum trailer to save weight but are really hard to find.
Have an old aluminum hydraulic tilt trailer now but it is worn out - needs complete overhaul (frame straightened and all welds replaced, hydraulic system replaced completely, tie down points added etc). Might be willing to get it redone but can't find a shop that I trust that is willing/able to do it all.
I am in Houston - any recommendations of repair shop or dealer? Willing to order from out of town for the right trailer.
TIA
