Yup they have expanded it to certain model years of the Solstice and Sky. I warned a coworker yesterday, but turns out her Solstice is a later model than the ones involved in the recall.

Good luck OP. One of my 350Z friends had that happen to his car once years ago, totally random. He was pretty freaked out but he had no problem stopping the car and pulling over. Had never had that happen before, and hasn't happened since.

I have to wonder if maybe the biggest danger is from the steering column locking up? I mean if the car thinks there is no key in the ignition, and you try to turn the wheel, what would stop it from locking.

I'm pretty certain the key would have to be turned in the off position for the steering wheel lock to be engaged.

Would have to be, all 2010-2014 Cameros were recalled, his wife's is still in warranty, so it would fall into that range.

Heard about this on the radio...if it's a tall driver and the seat is too far up they can hit the key with their knee.

IMO that shouldn't be a recall, recalling cars for ****ty driving position is no basis to recall. Owners fault.

It's a long shot but........by any chance was she racing a fuel injected Stingray when this happened? Sounds kinda like she tached it up, tached it up and got shut down buddy.

She got an email that it's been recalled and is waiting on whatever part needs to come in. We took everything off her key chain way back when as a precaution and haven't had an issue since. Her leg isn't long enough to hit the ignition so i assume she hit a bump like the other poster said.

I have a 2014 Camaro with about 3000 miles on it and it just shut off on me today taking it to the dealer.

Did you turn the key counterclockwise?

The steering locks and the brakes don't work?
