anyone have any idea on where their retail gasoline comes from? Asking to find out of it is Top Tier or not...

the only real difference is additives. it's not like they sell chevron gas at cheaper rates, it's probably their own cheap blend.

Never had a problem with either HEB or Costco gas. I usually see Coastal fuel trucks there on delivery day.

A very large percentage of the gasoline supplied to all the major stores comes from the same places.

The storage tank and the fuel additives are really the only significant difference.

And that's why a can of B12 goes in every oil change

I have noticed a drop in MPG when using kroger, but Murphy seems to do just fine.

Truck gets whatever is convenient, but usually cheap

Vette almost always gets Shell, most of the time I have a Kroger reward

I was a gasoline trader in a previous life. Nonbranded gas is fine if the outlet is busy and your vehicle doesn't require premium. If your manual calls for premium, buy branded unless you're in a pinch.

I use Costco in my Expedition but Chevron/Exxon/Shell in my wife's BMW.

It's hard to get genuinely bad fuel nowadays unless its from a low-volume station. I used to make good money by buying off spec diesel and blending it up with kerosene or jet, or buying components and blending unleaded, but the specs are much narrower now.

I have an HEB right by my place and have used their gas for the 1.5 years I've been here. No issues w/ 87, 93, or diesel. I do try to put in name brand stuff for the 93, but sometimes it is just way to convenient to get it from HEB (otherwise I have to make a stop 4 exits from my place). I do frequently run SeaFoam through my tanks, especially when I find it on sale for $5-6 a bottle.

I'm 100% positive where most of the Kroger and Costco gas comes from. They buy it from a major.

As other have said the main difference between "unbranded and "branded" stations is the additive package put into the fuel when it's bought at the fuel terminals. The specs will meet the minimum specs set by the govt. Branded gas stations (i.e. exxon/shell/chevron) all have additive packages that go above and beyond the specs.

Studies show that that the branded sites offer are better for your car, but gas from krogers/Costco won't hurt your car either.

The Kroger by my house always has a flying j tanker there.

Not surprising. Krogers wouldn't have it's own fleet of drivers.

Lack of additives. Chevron/ Texaco are the best.

The top two companies tend to be Chevron and Shell. Both are generally able to get a small premium over other brands.

Does this mean you are out of gas now, or you have gas now?

I usually run Wally World gas for both the GTI and the Silvy; they have 93 where most other places don't. But, I also run meth in the GTI that helps smooth out any "irregularities" with gasoline.
