I'm trying to find ethanol free gas pumps in Bryan/College Station. Does anybody know of any. There are 2 in my home town but cant drive 5 hrs to fill up, lol. In my truck it makes a 3 miles per gallon difference. At current prices of fuel this adds up, fast! Please help if anybody knows where any ethanol-free pumps are located! Thanks!

Wth does 60mpg have to do with it?

I'm guessing there's some study out there that says that 10% ethanol only decreases average fuel mileage by 5% over that standard 87 octane gasoline.

Meh, seems more like the OP was just interested more than anything else.

They're right next to the "leaded" pumps.

Aggietaco has it correct. Proven mileage drop is in the 3-5% range. Even if ethanol had zero energy content, the biggest possible MPG drop is 10%. If his mileage dropped 10%, that would mean he's getting 30mpg.

Or there's always the possibility his truck isn't subject to the laws of thermodynamics.

Or maybe he just drives a newer model truck? Duhhh

Absolutely it makes a difference. Ethanol free gets me 37 on the highway instead of 28-29 with 10% in a svt focus.

3-5% is worth 10-18 cents/gallon. I know of a station that claims to be ethanol free. It's generally a little bit higher, but it looks like it would probably be worth it.

Internet tells me that the cheapest gas in Amarillo right now is $3.42 a gallon. Cheapest ethanol-free gas is $3.65 a gallon.

You'd have to get a jump of > = 7% in mileage to pay for that.

Oklahoma and Louisiana have real gas, but nowhere in Texas. Thankfully we're only 40 min away from La.

Checked the place I know last night. Ethanol free is 3.69. E10 everywhere else in town is 3.65. Only catch is the ethanol free is sold from a pump that required you to use one of the companies cards.

There are very few terminals left in Texas that actively sell conventional fuel anymore....

WOW, feel sorry for those with old cars with no ethanol free gas in Texas anymore. I can count 8 within 15 miles of my house here in TN.

If you have anything pre 70, need that prem E-free.

And it makes 5% diff in my '06 Jeep LJ.

Will make sure when I bring my car for the Corps car show next spring to not need fuel in it.

Did not realize ethanol free gas was as scarce as it is. Here in Abilene most of the shell stations sell it and the Lawrence Brothers a couple of blocks away from my house sells it.

You don't happen to grow corn, do you Canyon?

I am seeing better results using Exxon vs. cheap gas (87 octane). My weekend commute is about 370 miles and I am averaging 3 mpg higher with Exxon (37 vs 34).

Straw man argument.

So far, I've only argued physics, not agronomy.

Geez only 95 stations in all of Texas according to pure-gas.org. That sucks.

And none at all near where I am (Bastrop County). I would love to have some for my old jet ski, I'll just have to stick to the ethanol remover additive.

Would love to have it for my 2009 F150 too, dang thing gets 16 MPG ug.

Canyon, you are neglecting the degredation effect, as well as the hydrophilic property.

wasnt meaning to bring arguements! I have found none around BCS. Touched base with Rattlers owners and they said they didnt know of any in our area. As far as my truck, its 4 door heavy duty, and it doesnt get great gas mileage, but I have tested it and documented it 3 times over... i get 15 mpg with non-ethanol gas and 12mpg with our lovely ethanol incuded gas. Not to mention its easier on your car if its few years old. If anybody finds one let me know, and NO they arent besides the ethanol ones at the stations, lol.

Degradation effect?

Are you claiming that the ethanol

1) Has no BTUs

2) Steals BTUs from the gasoline?

Sorry, that's just not possible. By your calculations, ethanol

1) Has no BTUs

2) Destroys 11% of the BTUs of the remaining gasoline.

3) Adds no octane enhancement.
