To end my week, I want to post pics of some OEM wheels that I think suck. Not aftermarket wheels - these are wheels supplied by automakers, sometimes as options.

Current Kia Sportage:

Current BMW X6 Option:

Current VW GTI:

Older Jaguar XK:

Honda Civic Hybrid:

BMW optional wheel:

Another BMW optional wheel:

Current BMW Ellipsoid wheel seen often on 6 series:

BMW makes some beautiful wheels. But some of them are surprisingly unfit for their cars. No sporting car, even a luxury car, should have so many "blades." And big "holes" in wheels look like crap. Lots of flat surfaces also looks like crap.

Your opinion of course may be different. I wasn't trying to pick on BMW. But some of their wheels are just ugly.

BigRobSA - those are called "fat fives" - on the original 91-94 NSXs!

I know, Spice, which is why I posted them. To eff with you/your car. My GTI doesn't have those Huffs, by the way, they're 18" wheels. I have the base 17", non-polished/painted version. Lighter, smaller diameter for racing.

A lot of cars had "Fat Fives". VW had some on the Mark IV, so did Audi and I think BMW.

BigRob - I KNEW you wouldn't have those wheels on your GTI. This thread is about wheels in any case, has nothing to do with the merits of the cars the wheels are for.

Those remind me of the old Oldsmobile Super Stock rims that were on the gazillions of Cutlass's back in the 70s and 80s.

A Kia with paper plates showed up at my office parking lot this week wearing these ugly wheels. He had some weird logo put in place of the Kia badge so it took me a bit to figure out WTF it was.

Those Silverado rims remind me of the 80s S-10 rims:

Actually the all-blacks ones aren't that bad, but the black/silver are hideous.
