Anybody know a good auto shop that does transmission work around the Garden Oaks/Heights area?

In the past 3 months, I've had some problems with my transmission fluid leaking. I went to A+ Transmission Specialist and they wanted me to replace multiple parts to my transmission that would cost an estimated $2,800. I like to get a second opinion if anybody knows a good reliable shop that won't try to repair the entire transmission.

It's a '08 Ford Escape with 80K miles. It started having issues in April and I had never had a tranny fluid change when I bought it brand new. Jiffy Lube changed the fluid and then 6 weeks later the tranny started having issues again. I went to a local shop and they said it was low on fluid. They filled it up again and now 4 weeks later I'm having the same problems. A+ Transmission stated the leak is coming from the coolent/radiator line and they wanted to see if any of the tranny parts got damaged. They told me I needed the following parts replaced: 2nd gear stills, tork converter, banner kit, and solenoid pack. This will cost an estimated $2,800 (no thank you).

I want a second opinion cause it's only 3 years old and I have a hard time believing a tranny needs that extensive amount of repair for a simple leak.

I don't know how close they are to you, but a LOT of the SS guys in the Tine go to Circle D Transmission.

Other than the "tork converter" and solenoid pack, I've never heard of the parts they listed. But I never did anything with a Ford transmission, either.

Sounds like they're trying to gape you.

How about tightening the connection where the leak is and just moving on?

Good call on Circle D. They were fair with me on an old Dodge.
$2800 won't buy a rebuilt Ford tranny? Anyone use Thunderobolt?
