Been there, very plain facility, the saleman (order taker is more accurate) had no interest and little product knowledge. At the time they only worked by appointment (he knew I was coming and what I was after), he really did not care if I bought or not. Had offered a trade before I got there and they never drove my car (sixth gear was going out in my tranny) gave me a price and I countered within $1,300 and was told no. I watched the truck for another six weeks on their website. Am guessing most of their stock is not floorplanned. My advice: sell your own and DO NOT trade with them (to operate like they do they got to be low balling yours) go in with cash or your note done and I'd let them know before hand. It's completely different way to sell cars. I suspect the younger crowd may like their methods better than the over 40 folks. Good luck with your new purchase wherever you go.

should be SOP for ANYONE buying a car. they and most others generally don't "lowball", they just offer what they can reasonably expect to spend to either a) source your car at a dealer-only auction or, b) recoup by liquidating your car at said auction.

remember, a dealers' acquisition costs are much different than your liquidation revenue. with as hard as it is to buy cars in the wholesale market these days, dealers are offering more than ever, especially for cars that can be retailed.

back to the original topic... if you are an educated consumer and know exactly what you want, i wouldn't buy any other place. great prices, good inventory.

Thanks for the info. A friend directed me to their website. Their inventory looks good and seem to carry the kind of truck that I'm looking for.

when you deal with the public in volume, you're always going to get some bad reviews, but the amount of screw jobs these folks do seem to outweigh any advantage of buying from them. From what I've read, good luck getting any type of support once cash has exchanged hands. I've never bought from them.

they only sell on ebay and have a 99.9% pos. feedback rating.

1 out of every 10 cars sold on ebay WORLDWIDE are TDA cars.

I am sure there are PLENTY of great transactions, however it doesn't look good when a company doesn't refund a deposit if the client is not happy. Just my .02

i agree piag if the car was misrepresented. however, many people are unhappy at their decision to buy the car, not the car itself. a dealer should never be held responsible for this. i have had people transfer in cars to texas and once the car gets here, they tell me that they want their deposit back because they now want a black car instead of red. the street goes both ways.

Or if the deposit is noted as "non-refundable"

I don't know that they could make it any clearer.

apples and oranges, but if this were to happen at Sewell, they would refund the money because "the cusotmer is always first" and they want buyers for life. However, when dealing with the masses you always uncover complete morons...I mean, look at our president

Sewell is different though, like any dealer they thrive on repeat business through parts and service, they need your repeat business and will fight for it.

Texas Direct just sells used cars, nothing more.

piag,

I doubt Sewell would take a deposit on a used car. That is not a standard practice of a brick and mortar dealer. A brick in mortar dealer deals in buyers orders and contracts, not deposits.

Also, I don't think TDA has a service dept. Used cars are their only source of revenue.

I am not ragging on TDA. I have zero experience with them. I am just making an observation on some of the things I've heard.
