My wife's 2004 4 banger Accord just turned 100K miles this past weekend and she went to get the oil changed as she gets it changed every ~3,000 miles.
The guys today told her she should get the "engine flushed" as engines can start to develop sludge in the 80K-100K mileage range.
I've never heard of an "engine flush" as I've heard of a coolant flush and injector and fuel line cleaning. I don't see any reason to "flush" the oil as the oil has been changed every 3,000 miles. Hell, if there's anything stuck in there I want it to stay there.
Anyone ever heard of an engine flush? I'm afraid they just tried to take advantage of her.
If it's a coolant flush, should it be done at 100K and almost 6 years old? I'm guessing that might not hurt but never done it myself in any of my vehicles. I always figured if the coolant system has fluid fresh stuff isn't going to make it last longer but I could be wrong there.
Thanks guys.
