Caddy has lower miles, more luxury, 4 seats, and is priced slightly better.

the z06 is older but is a Vette and even though both have the 400 hp LS6 or ls7 (forget) it runs a lot faster in the Vette.

What would you do and why?

Kids = CTS-V

No kids = Vette

Who cares = Vette

Colors of the two cars under consideration?

I'd have a hard time buying a bright yellow Vette compared with a dark grey CTS-V. Now... if both cars are black, it's a different story.

Both had the LS6. The Corvette= 405hp/400ftlbs. CTS-V=400/400.

Like mentioned above, your needs should dictate which car you choose. Either one will be a good, fast ride. Of course, the Vette is faster.

CTS-V.

Still have the ability to use the vehicle to haul your friends around when you need and has the oomph to make your commute interesting on the weekdays.

The biggest issue with Vettes is man, it's almost worth buying a brand new one.

used vettes don't come down much..

And in 3 years the regular vettes have as much hp as the z06's..

The Silver Caddy CTS V with the Z06 engine and GPS and it even gives you a hummer when you drive is pretty sweet

CTS V if it is going to be your primary transportation. Maybe the Z06 if it is going to be a weekend "toy", but as you mentioned, I would just save for a little longer and buy a C6.

If it is gonna be your primary ride, I say get the caddy. I may or may not be a tad biased, though Plus, you would be absolutely FLOORED to realize how many people have no idea what a CTS-v is and what it is capable of.

My cousin's '03 z06 was in consideration for me at the time, but I just needed more space and practicality.

Be sure to check the rear end, though. See if it was replaced, because the 04-05s had a tendency to grenade their rear ends.

I agree if no kids go for a vette. And try to get a C6 they have the same hp as the old z06 and are a bit easier to live with...

I have a C6 coupe and I love it... You can find some pretty good deals on used ones too..

03, I am indeed shopping for them? I have pros and cons with both..

If you're looking at either a C5Z06 or a C6, you're looking at 405hp vs 400hp. Not much of a diff there, but it's a Z06. BOOM! 'Nuff said.

I do hate to bring image and other peoples reactions up, but that would be a pretty important thing here. Both cars may cost the same, but people will view the z06 as much more of a rich mans toy.

I would lean towards the z06 just because of the performance edge, but the flexibility of the CTS-V might win. Just remember that getting in and out of the z06 is not the easiest thing in the world, especially if you arent in the best shape. I knew a guy that sold his, because he gained 20 lbs after some health problems.

I was merely comparing to the LS2 C6

And against that, the c5z06 is a tad faster and much more set up as a race-ready badass than a weekend cruiser.

Plus I much prefer the look of the C5Z06 to the C6

A CTS-V has the long term potential to be worth something/"collectors" now that GM has announced that it will stop making all V-series Caddys. Just sayin...

The first thing I would do to that car besides changing the tail lights would be to remove that ridiculous Red White and Blue sh\t under the hood. It is even painted on the underside of the hood, sheesh.

I'd paint it like a Mexican flag.
