Just bought a Sea Doo that doesn't have reverse. I'm wondering what would be the best way to get it off the trailer at the boat ramp with no reverse. Anyone had experience with that before? Thanks.

You should be able to back the trailer down far enough that the back end of the Seadoo just starts to float. You should then be able to push it off by hand.

I assume this was a serious question. Maybe the OP has never been in a car without power windows either.

I saw some dude do this at a lake in deep east Texas...had a rope with one end tied to the trailer and another tied to the bow of his bass boat, backed in and slammed on the brakes...boat went into the water and he was able to pull it up to shore with the rope to get in, one of the ways to do it by yourself!

Just push it off and then try not to run over anyone on the lake.

It's a legitimate question when you're at a boat ramp with no dock like so many ramps on the highland lakes. Not like you can just back it in, hold the rope and tie it to a dock while you park the trailer.

I was serious in my answer. This shouldn't be that hard. Most pwcs before 3 seaters didn't have reverse. The typical 2 seater probably weighs about 600 lbs and if part of the weight is floating you should be able to push it off.

Gotcha, I was more responding to others, Spicewood.

You just back in until the jet ski starts to lift off the trailer then you put your feet near the back and pull the handle bars like you're trying to pop a wheelie and rock it back off the trailer. Very simple.

My question is why are you riding a jet-ski in January!? Or are you just asking 3-4 months in advance?

Seriously though, I used to have one, launching is very simple. As others have said, unstrap the tie downs, but leave the bow hook strapped to the trailer. As you back in, the ski will start to float. Put the truck in park, release the bow hook and the ski will be very easy to maneuver by hand.

if you can use reverse to get a jetski off the trailer, you can push the jetski off the trailer... so not sure why not having reverse means anything.

Lefty - there is a difference. I agree reverse still needs the pwc to be partially floating. But with with reverse - you just sit on the pwc and back it off. Then maneuver at the ramp and off you go. Without reverse you need someone to push the pwc off with a driver on it - then maneuver it with forward only. Occasionally have tight quarters to move around, wind, etc.

Slightly off topic but I will add that fuel injected 4 strokes are awesome. They start like a modern car, no fouled plugs, and run perfectly all the time.

Yeah, only if your goal is to not get a drop of water on you! If you've got any part of the jetski touching the water you can push it off, jump in the lake, twist the ski around, hop on and voila!
