Hey OP I did that. About 10 years ago. Lived in Hico for 2.5 years but then moved back to the metroplex due to job change. We loved Hico and still do. I can share insights if interested and if you are seriously considering it.

My mom lives in Ranger and we visited Hico over Christmas. Really cute town and friendly. Also fell in love with Granbury.
