My mother is suffering from dementia and things are getting to the point where my 92 year old father can no longer care for her. They do not have the means to pay for a nursing home, so I need to locate a home that participates in the Medicaid "spend down" program. Any recommendations in the Waco area?

My old neighbor, who also suffers from dementia, was moved into one off of MLK - east side near where the rivers meet. Sorry, I don't recall the name.

I did go to visit her and it looked very nice.

I believe that this is assisted living versus a full on nursing home.

Wesley Woods in Hewitt specializes in Alzheimer's care patients. Your first call could be to Providence or Hillcrest Hospital's social work dept and ask for assistance in nursing home placements. Social Security office on Wooded Acres might be able to help but be there early because you are called up by number.

EMY, are you thinking about Meadowlands Terrace? The are assisted living but do offer Memory Care.
