Did they ever really have a school? A building yes, but any learning/teaching is questionable

would be interesting to see if West drops down, and if so which way do they head? I could see them going northwest with Whitney, Clifton, Grandview, etc or down south with McGregor, Troy, etc.

When I saw this topic and read through, I was surprised not to see mention of Crawford most likely dropping down to 1A (2A in 2014 and beyond). They turned in 197, the same as Valley Mills and one more than Axtell's 196.

Does W still have a ranch a Crawford? Does he ever go there?

My inside sources tell me it's pretty close to a done deal that West is moving down. I've seen preliminary cutoff numbers.

What will the 5A/6A cuttoff be?

Well the problem is the guy who showed them to me wouldn't let me keep them. All I was interested in was the 3A/4A (current 2A/3A) cutoff

See if you can find out small and large school cutoff within that class. Right now I think we are on the verge.

Bohunk,

I saw a prediction today that had

West
Rockdale
Troy
McGregor
Cameron
Little River Academy
Rogers

Would be a pretty long haul from West to Rockdale, and would be a pretty tough district considering I think everyone except West and LRA are into the third round of the playoffs right now.

We are quite feared that we will have to go big school with the big bump we had this year in enrollment. Keeping finger crossed we are just below the cutoff.

Still no one in central Texas should complain if the above happened because we have been in long trip purgatory for two years, having to play Schulenburg, blanco, and Randolph and having kids get home way too late on Thursday nights to function in class. to make better time we chartered busses that first year, but it was really too costly, so this year it was yellow dogs and kids in class with bodies only on Friday.

Ya. No way Roger should have been in that district.

i laugh at the people complaining about long trips that aren't longer than 4 hours. the school i went to near San Angelo had to go to freaking ANTHONY (West of El Paso) for district games. 8 hours one way. In district.

We've talked about this before, and I realize there have always been outliers and head scratchers when it comes to alignment induced travel problems. Especially in West Texas

Bit this problem has been exacerbated tremendously by dividing classifications into divisions for REGULAR season play. That is what caused Rogers to be sent so far away when there are 2 schools, in the same classification, within 15 miles of Rogers, on EITHER SIDE OF ROGERS, that are not in Rogers' district.

It is dumb to divide those schools up in regular season, and is the reason for most of the long, intra-district travel problems experienced by 2A schools.

And from what I understand, this concept is spreading to other classifications.

The UIL are idiots...

Pablo, we actually touch our district to Troy, Academy, Rosebud Lott, and Cameron, yet had to travel huge distances for games. We are in the same district with some of them for everything else. Size seems to just matter for football, not the rest of the sports, music, or academics.
And we are NOT in west texas. I lived there also, and long distances are a way of life. You are not having to ride past district after district your size to get to that game.

It was particularly hard on the little seventh and eighth graders with their
Thursday night games.

To go to Blanco we had to go through academy and salado.

3gen

I am totally agreeing with you.

There are FOUR 2A schools within 20 miles of Rogers (Academy, Troy, Cameron, and Salado) and they are on ALL SIDES of Rogers, yet are in different football districts.

The reason is the 2A split

It's dumb the way it's set up

This is true. There will essentially be 12 classifications in Texas high school football next year. Crazy.

My old HS will be a 3A. Crazy as they've been 2A for about 30 years without going up or down once.
Captain Pablo

So the question is what numbers did Bryan and Rudder turn in? If they're below 2100, I can see Temple ending up with Consol, College Station, bryan, Rudder, Waco, and university.

Anything could happen though. Temple may end up with Williamson County, or possibly Waco and I-35-W area
Gigemchicken90
How long do you want to ignore this user?
Bryan turned in 1930
A&M Consol - 1715

I must be blind I can't find Rudder on the list. I also couldn't find Rogers. If anyone knows Rogers please post.

No big surprises in our area. Rockdale went down but that was expected. Poor Florence stays Division 1 - now 3A they were 314 and the cutoff was 314. They may actually be able to compete in Division 2 but they just missed the opportunity.

Here is a link to numbers - again I didn't see the ones listed above.

Thanks for the info

In that case, I predict temple will be in with the 4 B/CS schools, plus one more ISD with one or more High Schools. Perhaps the Waco schools, or even someone like Brenham

Of course all this is out the window if and when the dumbasses at the UIL divide each class into big/small for regular season play

Then Abilene Cooper, Lufkin, and San Marcos will probably be in the same district

Right now only the bottom classes are divided for regular season play:

1A Division I - 55 - 104.9
1A Division II 54 and below
2A Division I - 158 – 219
2A Division II - 105 – 157
3A Division I - 315 – 464
3A Division II - 220 – 314
4A Division I - 686 – 1059
4A Division II - 465 – 685

I can see a MAJOR headache if they divide bigger school classifications up for regular season play:

Urban ISD's with more than one school having their schools in different classifications.

It wouldn't be a big deal for say Houston or Dallas since there are plenty of schools around to form a local district..

The problem would be in places like Bryan, College Station, Abilene, Odessa, Midland et al with exactly 2 or 3 schools getting busted up if they happen to be on both sides of the cutoff
Captain Pablo
How long do you want to ignore this user?
Ellison dropped

Killeen, Shoemaker, and Harker heights stayed 6A

Good news is that we stayed small school, bad news is that probably UIL will use this as an excuse to sent us far far away again for district, taking high money for travel (and we don't have west texas oil income to fund it) and impacting Friday as an academic day two ways. First middle schoolers or JV players are too sleep deprived to be at full capacity for Friday classes and second band, football and cheer have to miss large parts of Friday afternoon to get to the game. That impacts the rest because when 75 percent of a class is gone for sports, it is hard to have regular class for the rest.
