Diamondbacks or 135 Prime.

1424 has good food, but is more casual.

I would vote for Diamond Back's....has been consistently very good the last several times I've been there.

Diamondbacks or if you want to take a 30 minute drive go to Cheeve's in Temple.

another vote for DB, however 1424 has the best food in Waco AND has finally gotten a full bar.

Cheeves is better than anything in Waco.

Second the recommendation to Cheeves. It's somewhat pricey, but it's the best food in the area. At one time, they would send a limo to Waco to take you there. Do they still do that?

they'll send a limo, but not for free. I believe it's about $80/hour.

Headed to Cheeve's for a little VDay dinner with the wife. Looking forward to some great food.

my poser brother likes Diamondbacks so I know it's at least pricey and probably a good place to be seen.

EMY92, that's the brother we had lunch with out at the burger place by TSTC. Not the brother who still lives at home.

DB is cheaper than 135.

I'll echo the sentiments that Cheeve's is better than anything in Waco.

my daughter ate at Cheeves last night..$45 for her salmon, $55 for date's steak and they were so busy the appetizer scallops were cold by the time they were served.

$55 for a steak? In Texas? Waco no less? Seems a little high.

EDIT: The more I think about it, I didn't even pay $55 at Morton's or even at Gibsons on Rush Street in Chicago. In fact, $55 will fix you up with all the meat you can eat at Fogo de Chau in Beverly Hills.

Now the $9 glass of Maker's Mark I had tonight in Canberra, ACT, Australia was extortion though.

Hollywood, my daughter was surprised as well! And FTR, Cheeves is downtown Temple.

Cheeves is in Temple.

And yeah, it probably is that expensive. I go there for lunch, which runs about $20 with drink and tip. Not bad. But Dinner for two with a couple of drinks each and you're up in the $150 range. When you can grill a ribeye, make a salad and baked potato, and pour yourself a 12 year old Macallan at your own house for a tiny fraction of that, you may become like me and cross Cheeves for dinner off your list. Still go there for happy hour occasionally.

Frisco, if it's you and your parents, and y'all order appetizers and drink alcohol, bring $250

Probably depends on the cut of steak you get.

I still miss Northwood. The BEST ceasar I have ever eaten. No one comes close.

Cheeve's was outstanding again. Crazy busy, but they got our food out quickly and it was great. It's definitely expensive, but it's been the best in the area by far. I had a little shell shock when I got the ticket, but it was a special occasion so no worries. Cajun Crawfish appetizer was awesome.
