Is the boat still sinking or is it completly sunk? Has anyone tried to raise the boat?

sunk, revived, sunk again...overdue bills out the wazoo......appeared to be sinking AGAIN.........abandoned

GREAT POTENTIAL but the locks and low water dam issues have plagued it and the predecessor for decades.

The Brazos Queen was sold many years ago and is now cruising on Lake Grapevine or some other lake near the Metroplex.

The Brazos Belle was sold to some guy in Gholson. I believe that he requested additional time to move it. I think he plans on moving it to his place in Gholson by sailing it up the river.

Hey, lets see if the city of Waco would allow Parsons Mounted Cav to fire off the Spirit of ,02 and finish her off..........

Make it a part of the pregame for our game with Baylor....Then if some of the frat daddy's from BU come over AND try to start any trouble , we can just turn the piece toward Old Main and finish off what we started in 1926 !!!!!!!!

OWA, you crossed the line when you start blowing up Baylor's campus...it is gorgeous and they have successfully made even new modern buildings have the old look to their facades.

FWIW, the news tonight said the Brazos Belle has been deemed unworthy of repairs...with a price tag of $1mil and not all repairs would be covered it is not feasible for Clifton Robinson(new owner) to refurbish it for use on the Brazos or to be moved elsewhere.

She will be scrapped and sold as such.

Brazos Belle will be scrapped

The Brazos Belle, once an icon of Waco’s Lake Brazos waterfront, is being scrapped after its new owner concluded that it could not be saved.

Waco businessman Clifton Robinson bought the boat recently from Jerry Sparks, a truck repair salesman who had bought it this spring.

Robinson was working with a group of businessmen, including Jim Hawkins and Rondy Gray, to try to acquire and renovate the boat, which had once housed a restaurant and banquet facility. The boat sank into the river last year and again this summer.

But Hawkins said an engineer hired to look at the boat said it was not feasible to renovate.

“When we got the engineering report back, it was real negative,” Hawkins said. “It was like if you spent a million dollars it probably wouldn’t have fixed everything.”

Hawkins said Robinson bought the boat for about $10,000 but is now having it scrapped for metal.

City Manager Larry Groth said he doubts the scrap-metal prices will cover the cost of dismantling the boat. He said the new owner is doing the city a favor by removing what has become an eyesore for a stretch of river the city wants to redevelop.

I remember eating on a riverboat called the Brazos Queen II when I lived in Waco in the mid 90s. It was next to Tanglewood Farms, which is also gone. I had my very first Cherries Jubilee dessert on the Brazos Queen II. I wish we had taken pictures...

This one, the Brazos Belle is not nearly as nice as the Brazos Queen,II.

BQ,I was just an overgrown cafe and the bathroom was pathetic......the BQ,II was as close to Delta Queen traversing the Mighty Mississip as Waco will ever see! Wide staircase and red carpet, it was worth the price for a Sunday Brunch!
