I'll be in Port A the weekend of July 20th-22nd. Looking for a good place to play some golf. Any suggestions?

Yeah, good luck with that. The closest golf course worth a crap would be in Portland. NorthShore CC.

As far as muni's, there are very few in Corpus and the surrounding areas. Northshore and Padre Isles (south of Port A where JFK comes into Padre Island) are your closest, but I believe those are both private. Call to see if you can get on.

Another to consider is Rockport Country Club (also private) if you don't mind ten thousand oak trees. It is still a fun course though, plus you can eat at the Boiling Pot afterwards.

If you want a muni, you will have to go into Corpus - Oso will probably be your best bet to get on easily. Avoid Gabe Lazano.

If you want to wait a decade, they are putting in an Arnold Palmer just south of Port A.

Edit: I do have to say Northshore is my favorite. Great views of Corpus downtown from the back nine. The view from the 13th tee box is excellent. There is a consistent crosswind on 13 through 16, and it is not just a minor breeze usually.
