I'm heading to Corpus on Friday with some friends and we don't know where to go. It's been 2 years since I've been there.

We are looking for normal chill bars with sports on the tv, maybe even a good hole in the wall place. We are staying off of SPID and Nile.

The only bar I know of is Farrahs on the Island.

Here's the lowdown:

If you want to go out on Padre Island: Pelican Lounge usually has live music and is where the 20-something's hang out...TAMUCC students, Navy Pilots (across from Farah's), Farah's a little older crowd and more local, The Lighthouse usually has a band and is ok on certain nights.

In your area: nothing, but good Mexican food at LaPlaya

B&J's Pizza is on Staples, south of Saratoga...good pizza with a bar and sports on tv.

Buffalo Wild Wings is at Crosstown & SPID

Vernons is the best 'hole in the wall' bar in CC...go down Ocean Drive towards downtown, turn left on Buford Sreet in front of Holiday Inn and go up the hill...it's on the right...$6 big pitchers of Shiner.

Executive Surf Club is downtown and casual.

Brewster Street is a 'New Branufels'-type bar next to Whataburger Field, under the Harbor Bridge.

Dr. Rockit's Blues Bar downtown Austin-type bar with live music.

Club 21 & Havana are downtown and are higher class martini and cocktail bars.

What are you looking for and I'll give you suggestions.

Is Murdock's still open on the southside across from the Athletic Club? It was a nice little sports bar with plenty of TV's.

Yes, i forgot. Murdock's is still open. Corner of Airline & Holly. Not too far from Nile & SPID.

Might try Pelican Lounge since I've never been and most of us fit in the 20 something range, but just barely. Farah's is probably a little closer to my age group though. Had a blast there a couple years ago.

They took all the bra's down from the ceiling at Farrah's though. It doesn't have that same ambiance anymore...

well, that's a load of crap. It's not farah's without the unmentionables hanging from the ceiling.
