Me and the wife are looking for a quality hotel on the beach in Corpus for a short get away.

Any suggestions? All the chains I usuaally stay at seem to be away from the beach.

Holiday Inn-North Padre Island
As close as you can get to the beach w/o being on the beach.

Island House on N. Padre is nice.

Is Port Aransas beach better than Corpus beach? Thinking of going this weekend from Austin with the two 5 year olds. But I haven't been down there since I was a kid, so I don' remember what the story is.

Port A has a better family-oriented beach scene, mainly becuase there is a pedestrian beach where cars can not drive. You can still park/drive on the beach, but there is a barrier that allows you to run around w/o the worry of getting run over. Plus, there are a lot more places to shop/eat in Port A. If you have 5 y/o kids, Port A is a good place to take them.
