I posted this on the Houston board, but thought I'd ask you Galveston Ags too. Wife and I never been to Moody Gardens and thought we'd check it out. Is the all-day pass worth it or are there just a couple of things worth seeing?
If you intend to spend all day there then the pass would be the way to go. If you are only going to spend a couple of hours just go with the aquarium which is, by far, the best attraction there. Try to make the aquarium during one one of the seals feeding/training sessions. Very informative and entertaining. You'll probably have to call to get the time(s) for those.
I don't know what the all-day pass gets you, but you could definitely spend the majority of a day at Moody Gardens. With the pyramids, I-Max, paddle boat, etc. We've always just gone for one thing at a time, but we also live here. I'm taking my 6th grade class to the aquarium in a week... only $7.00 per person for class trips.
Highly recommend you and your class making the seals feeding/training/examining session if you can and tour the remaining aquarium at your leisure. The training/examining is explained and they take any questions those in attendance may have. My date and I really enjoyed it and I'm sure your "kids" would as well.
We'll be there from 10:00-12:00 and will be playing games in a classroom there for the first hour and taking a guided tour for the second hour. I will ask about the feeding session though. Thanks for the heads up with that.
Do all day. The aquarium takes a half day alone. It's wonderful. If it's a pretty day, take a sack lunch as the grounds are beautifully landscapped and it's on the harbor water side.
Beach party was not bad last year and apparently it's supposed to be even more tame this year. They aren't even going to put the barriers in the roads unless it's needed. They said maybe 30,000 will come this weekend which isn't anything compared to the number of people who come down for any other event. The only negative may be that many of the restaurants and businesses will still close.
