Have decided to move to the coast... Have 2 sons in HS and one entering MS.

We have a house in Rockport and are familiar with the area, so that is where we have been focused. We've seen a few nice houses pop up in Portland and just don't know anything about the Portland area or schools other than just driving around.

Opinions from anyone living in either city or has/had kids in either school would be appreciated.

Know several folks in Rockport who have kids there, and from what I understand, it is a very good school district. There are some major plants moving into Portland...don't know how that will impact those schools. I would imagine Rockport will see some spillover from those plants, also.

My kids are grown, but if I had school age ones, I don't think I would think twice about Rockport.

If they are football players move to Refugio. All kidding aside Rockport and Portland are solid. Still think Rockport is recovering a little from Harvey.
