After graduation I am moving to Corpus Christi. I don't really want to live in an apartment and don't have enough saved up to put a down payment on a house. I'm considering buying a somewhat affordable boat and living on it in the marina for a year or two. Have any of y'all heard of people doing this? If so, what recommendations do y'all have?

There's a guy that lives in a boat tied up to a piling in Offats Bayou in Galveston, he survived a water spout in it.

I know a lot of people who have done it. Boats are generally a lot smaller than people think, so take all of your stuff and throw most of it away and you'll be on the right track.

my next door neighbor rents a boat slip to a guy who lives on his boat. He loves it!

If you have more specific questions I can try to answer them...

The boat has to be at least 30 ft and insurance is required. Look at corpuschristimarina.com or call 361.826.3980 price range is 400+ monthly.

Been there--done that. I'd advise at least a 36 foot boat. After a few weeks, the walls seem to close in. If you are a "boat person" it's not too bad. Pick a good marina.
