All the sheetrock's up, textured, I've done most of the painting. Kitchen cabinets are going in now. Still trying to figure out what to do about flooring. Appliances are in the den waiting on the cabinets to be finished.
Stump grinder is coming tomorrow to finish up with the trees we lost.

I'm BOI, but haven't been to the island since the storm. How're things down there?

i work for a program that works in hardin, chambers, jefferson, and orange counties to try and help people cope with the loss. the worst areas after the storm are still the worst areas. oak island, smith point, bridge city, la belle, fannett, port acres, hildebrant, and orange. people who had flood insurance are getting a lot of work done. everyone else is struggling with what to do next.

My Mom's house in Galveston (fish village) flooded. It was gutted and we are currently in the process of rebuilding. No hurry since she has permanently moved to Houston and the house will eventually be rented. My biggest gripe with the city is that her water bill for the last several months has been $53 for ZERO gal. used per month. I called the Water Dept. and they said that the city council made this decision. Is it just me or does it seem like the city is really screwing with people in this situation?

I just got half of my roof replaced (yes, only half thanks to the lovely Texas Windstorm agency) last week just before we had two bad thunderstorms roll in (one included hail).

Hard to believe that June 1st is right around the corner.

How does Florida deal with all the hurricanes year after year?? If another one hits the area, I don't know how we'd recover.

agreed, we've had two storms in the last three years and that seems bad. florida has at least one major storm hit it every year. i think they're more up on hurricane resistant stuff since they deal with it more. over here it just hasn't happened that much in the last 20-30 years.
