Does anyone know of a fruit cup stand in the Robstown/Driscoll/Bishop/Kingsville/Ricardo area? I'm looking for a place where I can get cucumbers with chili and lime juice on it. My girlfriend has lived in the area for three years and swears a place like this doesn't exist. With the large Hispanic population around here, I *KNOW* there's got to be some hole-in-the-wall place somewhere!

Thanks for reading!

EDIT: I already know of the FRUIT STAND in Driscoll, off of Hwy 77. They sell delicious fruit, veggies, pecans, and honey, but they don't sell fruit cups.

Yeah, already looked at that. Alice is the closest location to Kingsville, and I don't really want to drive an hour and a half round trip for a cup of cucumbers. Thanks for the idea though.

Any other locally owned, non-franchise suggestions?

There's an HEB on King Avenue that sells cucumbers, chili power, and limes. I think they even sell cups, too.

Yeah, I know it's not the same when you do it yourself and you don't want to take the time to go to HEB either.

I never understood the fascination with cucumbers in a cup. Maybe it's a non-white thing.

"Non-white thing?" Seriously... do you have to bring race into this? I just happen to like the combination, and will pay someone else to do it for me.

BTW, if you can't refrain from smartass replies, how 'bout keeping your mouth shut?

How 'bout you turn down your sensitivity meter and remove the sand from your vagina. I happen to know PG personally and he's far from a racist.

Maybe if I give you a star, you'll go away.

FWIW, The OP is the one that said "with the large Hispanic population around here"....leaving the door wide open for the non-white remark. I personally had never heard of this fruit in a cup with seasoning stuff until my SIL from Carrizo Springs was talking about it one day. Is the seasoning chili powder, or is it some sort of fruit powder?

Vin, it's salt, lime, and chili powder and some sort of oil base to hold it all together. I've tried to make it myself but it never comes out the same (hence, why I want to find such a stand in Kingsville).

EDIT: I mentioned Hispanics in the OP because every time I've found such a place, it's been run by a Hispanic family, or a chain managed by a Hispanic family. It wasn't intended to start a racial discussion; it's just the nature of the topic. Us white boys don't come up with stuff like that. :-p

I'm white.
I don't like cucumbers w/ chili & lime.
YOU mentioned...since there are lots of Hispanics there must be a fruit cup stand...
I must be racist.
I've never seen a non-Hispanic eating said fruit-cup (cucumber is a veggie, by the way) is all I was saying.

Again, like LSF said...remove the sand from your vajayjay and turn down your sensitivity meter.
