this past weekend to survey the damage. Dayum. I knew it was bad...we all did, from seeing the pictures and video. It just hits you pretty hard to see it first hand. My family and I are hoping to rebuild at some point, however, I just can't see it being anywhere close to normal in less than a decade. Anyone else have any thoughts?

our house is standing ! garage and steps have been rebuilt, got power 4 wks ago, and water on thurs. we`re good to go ! Steves landing and stingaree are being repaired. Tiki is open, seaside lumber, parker lumber are open. Wont take 10 yrs, but it`ll take 5 for sure and it will never be the same. Provided theres no more storms, it will be back bigger and better.

Good to know that they are already working on singaree. Did you see it first hand? How bad was its damange since it was on bayside?

We went over a week after the storm by boat - my uncle lives in Bolivar and couldn't take waiting anymore. The damage was horrific... never seen anything like it. I haven't been down in a couple of a months. Does the entire peninsula have power now, or just in pockets?

Congrats on getting your garage and steps rebuilt. From what I understand, there is a shortage of manpower and the repairs are going slowly.

anyone able to receive power can get it now. Stingaree should be open in about 6-8 weeks from what I`m told. Downstairs is gone, upstairs is being worked on. The "Big Store" is opening a "little store" very shortly, where the subway sandwich shop was. Getting materials down there is a harder task than find decent help to rebuild. Its going to better than it ever was, just going to take time.

Our neighborhood is in very bad shape, particularly right at the beach. Of the 20 homes in our section, 3 were left standing and 2 of those will need to be torn down. None of the beachfront survived and I'm fairly certain that they won't be able to rebuild based on erosion. The beach and dune area is in shambles. There was a lot of wash-out and erosion...just awful. I'm glad you guys are staying positive because where we're at, it just looks awful.

Just found out my mothers ashes are now part of Bolivar, oh well don't think she would mind as she used to own a beer joint across from Swedes back in the early 70's.
