I need to make a trip to teh galveston area for a research project. However, the areas i need to get to are on the very edge of the mainland, not the island itself. Im looking for areas specifally with algae mats or ponds that may have sand washover. All i have is google maps, which shows no roads near most of these areas. The only way i know to access them is from the water. Anyone have any ideas?

Can you be a little more specific on "edge of the mainland"? Also, areas that may have been accessible by land before Ike may not be now.

This would be a good one, but not necessarily this one, just areas that are situated in the type of setting around the area.

Sorry, I can't think of any of those type of areas that would be accessible by land. Some of the fishermen on this board might have some info.

It's on the island but what about San Luis Pass on the bayside?

The place i was looking for turns out to be on Hall Bayou Ranch. I got contact info, but i don't know if they will allow access for what i need. Ill keep my fingers crossed anyway though!
