I know some of yall have a lot of connections in town, so I thought I would give this a try.

A friend lost her family's house in Ike and is now looking to rent a house in Galveston. She would be looking to rent for at least a year. Ideally she would be looking for something close to her elderly mother's house in the 41st Street and Avenue T area. Obviously looking for a home with little damage. Any help would be much appreciated. The family is currently living in a hotel. Thanks!

I know 2 houses available for long term leases (either through end of academic year or 1 yr leases). A 3/2 in pirates beach for 1500 a month, and an elevated (didn't get close to flooding) 2/1 in 1200 block of sealy for 1000/month. not close to the address you listed, but hard to find any place in this market. I'll trade you my information for a tree guy. I need a stump removed, not ground down, of a tree that fell in the storm. I'm getting tired of chopping on it and would rather write a check. Let me know if you still have my email. if not i'll repost it.

While I'm sure that this is too late for your friend, I figure this is worth putting out there. My wife and I are looking for someone who might be interested in taking up the rest of our lease on our house in Galveston as we've had to move to Houston due to some post-Ike job reshuffling. The house is a 3/2, approx. 1800 sqft, and suffered almost no damage from Ike. It's on the corner of Ave P 1/2 and 30th.

We ended up getting her friend the rent house thats located next door to our own home. It worked pretty well for all parties!

I'd bet if you stuck a "FOR RENT" sign in the front yard of your home it'd be rented in under a week.

It's got one. We've only been out of it since Saturday, so it's only been a few days. It's a really nice house, so we're hoping someone will rent it.
