Thanks for posting. What a great website. It is always refreshing to see something positive come from such horrible circumstances. I live in Friendswood now. I forgot about the Laura Kate Smithers story. For those that don't know, she was only 12 yrs old when she was abducted and killed while jogging in her neighborhood.

Some are entire families. I hope they just relocated and have not let anyone know.

This is the first deceased person I have heard of that was on the list(she has since been removed from the list). She was found in another county, so sad.

If you are missing family or friends from Bolivar Peninsula, please go to www.rolloverpasstexas.com. The website is updated at once every day, if not more. There is a survivor's list of people who have checked in and a missing persons list combined from multiple websites and personal emails.

Also, there was a blog started posting the actual emails from people who have emailed the webmaster for the Gilchrist Community Association. There is an email from a close friend of Gail Ettinger, the woman whose body was discovered a few days ago.

News said they found three more bodies yesterday. So tragic.

I just got some really bad news regarding a friend. He weathered the storm to prevent looting in his store. His name is "A.R." Lucas Most of you familiar with the island may have been a customer of his. He owned the Luke's convenience stores and had a BBQ/catering biz.

During the storm he sustained a pretty bad cut to his leg. It became infected with several things, one of them being Necrotizing fasciitis (flesh eating bacteria). He slipped into a coma and they had to amputate a leg. Unfortunately, they didn't catch it in time. He finally succumbed last night.

To know A.R. was to love him. He was always quick with a joke and fun to be around. We hunted together and he gave me lots of BBQ tips. He was active in the community and Rotary Club. The island lost a good one. He will be sorely missed.

According to a front page article in the GDN today (Rumors of grocer's death were greatly exaggerated), A.R. did lose his right leg to a bacterial infection and is being treated for Hepatitis A, but is recovering and plans to open both stores.
