I used to go deep sea fishing at a place called Capt. Elliot's out of Freeport and I just checked their website and they have now closed down after 30+ years of fishing trips. Was it because of Ike? The website didn't say. How hard was Freeport hit?

Capt Elliott's shutdown his charter fishing operation some time ago due to excessively stringent federal limits on recreational red snapper fishing (both number of fish anglers are allowed to keep as well as an extremely short red snapper season) - he just didn't think it was worth it anymore. So he sold his headboats. Had nothing to do with Ike.

Oh. I just recently checked his website after the storm and it said they were done so I assumed it was from Ike. Had a lot of good trips with them and hope they fare well in the future!

Far as I can tell, Capt Elliot sold his boats to Underwater Expeditions well before Ike. Before the storm they were running some deep sea trips and some scuba trips to make ends meet.

Any new info?
