My in-laws did a "look and leave" on their Tiki Island home yesterday. Judging by the water lines on the downstairs rooms, my FIL estimates the storm surge at 8-10 feet. Damage varies home to home. Lots of debris and boats everywhere.

I asked my FIL to rate the damage to his property. 0= no damage and 10= total destruction. He said his house is a 5.

Still no power, water or sewage. Authorities told them they will try to restore water first. I have been told you can't understand the impact of the storm until to walk around in the mess of it. I guess I will find out when I go down this weekend to help clean up.

If a boat is sitting in your yard after the storm is it your to keep if you want?
