On my way home from work yesterday, in Corpus, some guy was on a local talk radio show and said he took his private plane and flew over Galveston to check out the damage himself. He was flying at 2500 feet (and never landed to survey the city on foot) and was reporting that the damage wasn't really as bad as the news has been been reporting and that only about 1/4 mile of the Galveston seawall is really damaged. He also said that the city of Galveston, behind the seawall, doesn't really have any damage other than high water damage.
He was saying that the news media is making this out to be bigger than it really is and this his friends in the area already have power. He was even giggling about how much "the media is blowing it out of proportion".
I haven't surveyed the damage but it seemed like he was almost making light of the Hurricane and the amount of alleged damage it's caused.
This kinda pissed me off that he was making light of this massive storm. I was going to call in and call him a jackass but i didnt have any facts to back up my outrage.
