My in-laws rent 1 of the houses seen at about 5 minutes into this video. I'm surprised that the far west end of the island faired so well. Pointe West doesn't look like they got as much damage as closer to town. They were very lucky.

Winds were coming from the north on the west end of the island. Had the eye made landfall at Freeport as forecast it would be much worse.

Look no further than Bolivar for the wrong place / wrong time scenario.

I think alot of the surge on the west end was being pushed down the island and not directly across the beaches like at Boliver. Makes a huge difference.
