I'm thinking about taking the boy there this weekend. We're just going to throw up a tent. Any words of caution/advice?

Nope can't help you.

Pity post for TAT.

Take a rake and shovel, seriously, to rake some seaweed out of the way and make your campsite nicer.

Lots of firewood and water.

Check the forecast for the weekend. It's been wicked windy lately. 23mph constant w/ 33mph gusts.

Take lots of fresh water. There are fresh water showers at the park, but you will want fresh water to wash your feet and hands off with before entering your tent or eating.

If the beach is in good driving condition, instead of going to the state park, save your money and go to the north side of fish pass. Fish pass is the silted in pass inside the park. To get to it, go to the next access road north of the park (by the water tank and the stables). Turn south at the beach and drive to the jetty. Still walking distance to the showers but you don't have to pay to enter.
