I've recently bought a house and installed DirecTV. I got the Choice XTRA plus HD DVR package. I am disappointed to find that the network (ABC/CBS/FOX) HD channels (80-88) are blocked. I called asking about this and the lady (who was difficult to understand due to mexican accent) directed me to the local channels (2-69) for the network broadcasts.

Is there something wrong or does this just mean I'm SOL for HD on these channels? How in the hell am I supposed to watch American Idol, or NCAA tourney in HD?

The only local channel that is broadcast in HD right now is NBC. None of the other local channels offer any programming in HD.

*UPDATE: After looking on the KIII (ABC) website, it appears that KIII only broadcasts their HD signal over the air and not through any cable/satellite service.
