Yes, the Beaumont A&M Club is having a meeting on Tuesday May 13th - check out the website, www.southeasttexasaggies.org. Also, there is a Newcomer's Club in Beaumont, so you could get involved with them or ask if there is a comparable organization in Mid-County. And, if you head to Port Neches Park this weekend, there is a big water festival going on.
As for nightlife, Crockett Street in downtown Beaumont has bars, restaurants, a jazz club and a country dancing place (warning: mostly 25 and younger). Alibi's off of IH-10 is supposed to be an older crowd for a dancing place. A nicer bar and grill with live music is Madison's and it is on Dowlen by the mall. A great mexican restaurant with a patio is Chula Vista on 11th Street (the BEST maragaritas). The Pacesetter, on Phelan, is another bar that got upscaled after the hurricane and is pretty nice now.
Not sure if ya'll are into working out, but Oxxygen (sp?) on Nederland Avenue across the tracks is the best facility around and a great place to meet people, too. I wish they would build one in Beaumont.
Anyway, hope that helps and welcome to the area! I am the Sponsorship Chairman for the Beaumont A&M Club so feel free to contact me anytime.
